Kirstie Alley reveals to ET's Chris Jacobs gritty details of her past cocaine use she thought might take her life and the role Scientology played in freeing her from that addiction.
"I thought I was going to overdose almost every time," Alley says. "I would snort the coke, then I would sit there, I'd take my pulse [thinking], 'I'm dying, I'm dying, I'm dying.' Who would keep doing it?"
Alley tells Chris that a Scientologist friend prompted the actress to readDianetics, which the former Cheers star says she sometimes read while snorting cocaine.
"Somehow I got through [the book], and I thought either [Scientology] is the world's biggest scam or I thought this is how I am going to get rid of this hideous compulsion," says Alley.
For more of Alley's interview, tune in to ET tonight, Wednesday, November 7.

Opening up: Kirstie Alley, pictured in Hollywood earlier this month, says Scientology saved her from her addiction to cocaine
Dancing With The Stars' Kirstie Alley has revealed she thought Scientology was 'the world's biggest scam' until it saved her from a life-threatening cocaine addiction.
Outspoken Scientologist Kirstie, 61, has revealed she thought she would die every time she used the drug but was still unable to stop.
'I thought I was going to overdose almost every time,' Alley said.
'I would snort the coke, then I would sit there, I'd take my pulse [thinking], "I'm dying, I'm dying, I'm dying." Who would keep doing it?'
She was only able to stop after reading one of the controversial religion's texts Dianetics, which is written by founder L. Ron Hubbard.
'Somehow I got through [the book], and I thought either [Scientology] is the world's biggest scam, or I thought this is how I am going to get rid of this hideous compulsion,' she explained.
Not all stars have been so lucky to kick their drug habits by following Scientology's teachings.
In September, Sons of Anarchy actor, and the former boyfriend of pop icon Katy Perry, murdered his elderly landlady and her cat in their Hollywood Hills, Calif. home in an apparent drug-fuelled rage.
Johhny had reportedly struggled with drug issues for years and had sought help through Scientology's drug abuse programme.

Scientology follower Johnny Lewis reportedly struggled with drug issues before his recent death
The actor had even spoken to other addicts to promote the church's program Narconon.
His father Michael Lewis was a high ranking member of the church and co-wrote a movie with its leader L. Ron Hubbard Dianetics.
The full toxicology results from Johnny's autopsy are expected this month.
Dancing with the Stars contestant, Alley, has recently been coming clean not just about her drug problems, but also her love life while promoting her new book, The Art of Men.
The Cheers actress has said she had secret relationships with John Travolta and the late Patrick Swayze.
Kirstie defended John against gay rumours, describing her fellow high profile Scientologist as 'the greatest love of my life'.
'I know John. With all my heart and soul, he's not gay. I think it's some weird way, in Hollywood, if someone gets big enough and famous enough, and they're not out doing drugs and they're not womanizing, what do you say about them?'
