'I didn't feel comfortable at all': Nicole Kidman reveals she struggled with Tom Cruise's fame during their marriage
Today she's one of Hollywood's biggest stars.
But Nicole Kidman has revealed that during her marriage to Tom Cruise she struggled to cope with his worldwide fame.
She told Harper’s Bazaar magazine: ‘In those early years, it was like, “I’m here and I’m clutching onto your arm, and it all feels a little overwhelming and really strange.”
‘And I was shy. Deeply shy. I didn’t feel comfortable at all. But I felt very comfortable at home.’

In the November issue of U.S. Harper’s Bazaar the 45-year-old actress shows off her long legs in a gold pleated Emilio Pucci gown with a Cartier cuff.
But she claims her body is far from perfect.
Talking about the how all eyes on her affects her life nowadays she said: ‘Less as you get older. All of that other stuff becomes less important.
‘Like, I’ve always had a little belly. I mean, now that I’m 45, they don’t say, “Oh, she’s pregnant!” as much. But I’ve got skinny arms and legs, and then I’ve got a little belly.’

Still she finds being the subject of a photograph rather difficult as she is not at all at ease with posing.
She admitted: ‘I find standing and posing for photos very awkward.’
Admitting that she sometimes gets body makeup all over husband Keith Urban’s tuxedo, she continued, ‘Red-carpet truths! I make sure to wear comfortable dresses because I want to be able to go out afterward and, you know, bend.’
Inside the publication, she showcases looks by designers Dior Haute Couture, Missoni, Oscar de la Renta and Versace as she is photographed by Terry Richardson.
And she seems quite the natural model as she appears on a race track with a checkered flag, wearing white high heels that fasten at the ankles and with her rear facing the camera.

She insists she has a stronger public personality after spending six years with her American Idol judge partner, Keith, who she characterizes as ‘more like an ocean; he took me out.’
Nicole reveals that throughout her life she has always appreciated ‘a bigger, stronger personality; that’s what I’ve been drawn to. I need protection. Everyone wants to feel someone’s got their back.’
The couple have two children together Sunday and Faith, who both have a chance of inheriting her famous clothing choices however, not the 1997 Dior dress which made her stand out at the Academy Awards that year.
She said about the gown: ‘It’s packed in a box with tissue paper, and it will be donated to a museum.’
As for her other couture pieces, ‘whichever daughter loves clothes more will get dibs on those.’
