The Sea Org – Licensed to Kill
To this day, there are people who don't believe that L. Ron Hubbard would have ever ordered anyone to kill another person. There are people, yes even some ex-Scientologists, that believe that process R2-45 (the act of exteriorizing someone by putting a 45 caliber bullet in a person's head) was some kind of joke and that Ron never intended for anyone to take it seriously. There are Scientologists that swear that Hubbard would never condone the use of reverse Dianetics or Reverse Scientology processes (used to spin a person into insanity or drive them to suicide). Not only did he condone it, he ordered it. Hubbard was a vicious man and when he believed he had been crossed, he wouldn't rest until he had vengeance. He even said, "Scientology is not a turn the other cheek religion". There is proof that he did these things. IN WRITING!HCO Ethics order of 6 March 1968.
Special thanks to Gerry Armstrong for exposing this data even at his own personal peril.
Scientology's Shiny New Church/Giftshop
POSTED BY ALEX FALCONE ON THU, MAY 23, 2013 AT 10:44 AM
If you haven't noticed, the Scientologists have a brand new storefront in downtown Portland and it's awesome. If you'd like to watch promotional DVDs while feeling like the men in suits who watch your every move might murder you, then this is definitely the place for you.
The Portland branch of the Church of Scientology—from the Greek words logia (the study of) and sciento (getting money from celebrities)—opened the new space in traditional North Korean fashion on May 11th. I was so intrigued to learn what these people Photoshopped into the publicity photo were celebrating, I thought I'd stop by with my trusty camera phone and give you a virtual tour of their new digs.
The most important thing when you judge a museum/church's believability is the controls on the video players. These are top notch and prove that God lives in space.
The Sciency Totologists have lots of information to get across. For example, did you know L. Ron Hubbard looked pretty rugged? He did! The church's founder looked like he was getting a senior portrait all the time.
For newcomers, they explained the basic tenets of their religion/business plan including their 21 Commandments.
These are fascinating.
#8 Do not murder. That's FIVE BELOW "do not be promiscuous." Saved the best for 8th, I guess.
#9 Do not do anything illegal. Seriously. Murder is a double no-no because it breaks two different rules.
#21 Flourish and Prosper. Very different from the Christian "it's easier for a camel to fit through than the eye of the needle than for a rich person to get into heaven." It almost makes you think they want your money.
#22 (implied) Round numbers are stupid.

The Scenic Toiletists have lots of different programs to help you, your business, and your community. In case you're easily confused, they kindly gave each program a super obvious acronym.
It's like each of their programs got its name by writing a letter to Dear Abby.
Stay tuned after the jump for by far the best discovery I made.
Like all Scientology Outlet Malls (I was told), this one comes with a Ghost Office for the boss man L. Ron Hubbard. If he ever comes back from the dead and wants a 1st floor office, they've got him covered, complete with lots of well spaced desk toys.
The only problem is L is gonna be pretty bored in this office. All he's got to read is multiple copies of each of his books. He's already read them, guys. Give him something he missed out on by being dead like Harry Potter or something.
Obviously the thing they want you to pay the most attention to is their WAY TOO LONG FOR A MUSEUM videos about how great L Ronald and the Scientologosts are.
The videos are mostly stupid, but a couple minutes into one about using E Meters (a key tool in Scientology, they monitor how much E you've been doing) I discovered this gem:
That's right, THEYRE TESTING TEDDY BEARS FOR ENGRAMS! Okay, creepy cult. You win. If you can get those horrible chemical toxins out of that teddy bear and make him WISE, I'll definitely join.

Right from the beginning, they shoot themselves in the feet, and it only gets worse (for them) from there as you read the details of the evidence presented. The opening statement reads:
“Some of these reviews have a small sample size. With some, it was difficult for the researchers to contact participants after program completion (as it is now, with more means of communication at our disposal). Any long-term study that is not directly involved with the criminal justice system, where legal restrictions ensure repeated contact, does suffer from this circumstance. The percentages stated below are often of those persons interviewed, those who could be reached.”
Right up front they admit they are claiming the “success” based on small samples, self-reporting and only a portion of the total graduates. In the drug rehab field, if you are supposed to be doing routine follow-up (as Narconon claims it does), when you can’t locate the graduates it usually isn’t a good sign of success. There are several charts covering different measurements such as criminal recidivism, drug use and employment, etc. The chart on reduction of drug use includes several studies and surveys ranging from 1972 until 2009. Here are their notes from these studies, and my comments after them are in bold.
1972
Arizona Correctional Authority Report
Measured: Recidivism / Drug-free: Of 76 released from ASP, prison officials were able to reach
36. Of those contacted, 24 parolees or 66.6% were drug-free and arrest-free one year later - 24 out of 76 equals 31%

California Institute for Women Report
Sample Size: 23 adult women
Time Frame: 6 months to 1 year.
Measured: Drug-free: 78.3% (18 0f 23). - Doesn’t say how many total were enrolled, only how many were contacted
If the earlier corrections department programs were actually successful, wouldn’t you think they would have continued?

Narconon Boston Case Study
Sample Size: 11 adults – claims 91% drug-free 10 months after program completion, but then notes that 5 of the 11 had used drugs since completing, though only one reported being on drugs at the time of survey.

Narconon Connecticut
Sample Size: 10 people in experimental, aged 14 – 22 years.
Time Frame: Half way through NN program (some months).
Measured: Drug Abstinent: 80% drug-free - in otherwords, no actual graduates yet and still 20% using while in the program, let alone that the former director of the program has since spoken out against it.

Narconon Stockholm, Sweden, External Case Study
Sample Size: 13 Narconon program graduates (contactable of 14 graduates), followed up
4 years later. - So in 4 years they really only had 14 graduates? Really?
Measured: Drug Abstinent: 4 years after completing Narconon, 78.6% were drug-
free (although 54% had relapsed during the first year after Narconon.) - So did they go to another program that actually helped them, did they mature out of their substance abuse eventually? The 54% relapse does more to expose Narconon’s methods of spinning their statistics…

The Narconon Drug Rehabilitation Program – On-Going Program Evaluation (performed by Scientologist doctor)
Sample Size: 48 contacted (of 123 graduates, at time of study – so only 40% contacted)
Time Frame: 2 years after program completion.
Program Retention: Of the 273 clients who participated in the study, 66% completed the Narconon Program.
Quote from Conclusion: “Preliminary results indicate the program graduates demonstrate
marked improvements in their criminal behavior. Interviews also indicate significant improvements in their use of drugs.” – so no actual measurement of effectiveness in reducing drug use, just a Scientologist doctor saying that interviews indicate significant improvements, whatever that means.

Expertise on the Narconon Moscow Program
Sample Size: 32 Narconon graduates received in-depth health evaluation, objective and subjective life style evaluation, psychological evaluation. Post-program drug abstinence surveys on all 113 graduates.
Time Frame: 1 to 3 years post-Narconon.
72% of the 32 graduates reported being drug-free, no additional information on the full 113, or whether or not the small sample group remained abstinent, went to other programs, or whatever.

Summary Analysis on Narconon Arrowhead Routine Outcome Monitoring: 6 Month
Outcome Results
Authors: Prepared by FASE (Scientologists) based
on ROM follow-up data collected by Narconon Arrowhead staff
Sample Size: 52 (80% of the 65 who had graduated)
Time Frame: 6 months post-graduation.
Measured: Drug Abstinent: 67.3% were drug and alcohol free last 30 days.
67% of 80% is really only 54% of the total graduates, and once again self-reporting only if they were drug-free in the past month, not if they had any relapses in between.

ABLE Report: Routine Outcome Monitoring of Narconon Graduate Results (NN Arrowhead, NN Newport Beach, NN Vista Bay)
Authors: Staff of Association for Better Living and Education International (Scientologists who own the Narconon copyrights and work for the church), based on Narconon center reports.
Sample Size: 275 graduates
Time Frame: 1 year after graduation.
Measured: Drug Abstinent: 77.5% drug free last 30 days one year after graduation.
Again, no mention of how many total graduates there were (a fair estimate would be that they only contacted 275 of a total of about 750). Also, no mention of how many relapsed within the year, just self reporting on whether or not they had used in the past month.

This evidence reads more like proof they are committing fraud by claiming they have any particular level of success, because none of it actually backs up the claims they have been making for years and have posted on their websites. Here is a glance at some Narconon websites here in the United States:
Nearly all mentions of success rates have been removed from Narconon Arrowhead’s website (narcononarrowehad[dot]org), with the exception of this on their follow-up protocol page: “Follow up care is crucial to any form of addiction treatment. Narconon’s current success rate is over 70% and among the highest in the nation.”
Narconon Fresh start says, “Narconon Fresh Start’s New Life Detoxification Method combined with Cognitive Behavioral Modification Model has a 76% success rate accomplishing true rehabilitation…” right on the home page of drugrehab[dot]com.
At drugrehab[dot]net, Narconon Vista Bay says, “Q. What percentage of graduates from Narconon remain drug free?
A. Research done through contact with graduates of our program shows that 7 out of 10 graduates remain drug-free after a 1-year period. This is a very high percentage; most conventional programs only boast a 15 to 20 percent recovery rate, if that. Our program gets results.”

Narconon Spring Hill states, “Why choose SRC? Because our program has a 76% success rate and our Drug Rehab methodology is backed by 46 years of proven success.” Meanwhile they try to remove the word Narconon as much as possible, calling themselves Suncoast Rehabilitation Center except for the fine print at the bottom copyright.
I didn’t see any mention of a specific percentage of success rate on Narconon Michigan’s main website freedomdrugrehab[dot]com nor Narconon Georgia’s main website drugsno[dot]com.
Narconon Florida in Clearwater claims, “Our success rate of 87% is the
highest in the industry,” in their online brochure at narcononflorida[dot]org. Even if that was a typo and the numbers were transposed it is still absurd.
highest in the industry,” in their online brochure at narcononflorida[dot]org. Even if that was a typo and the numbers were transposed it is still absurd.
Narconon Gulf Coast apparently took out all mentions of Narconon from their main site gulfcoastdrugrehab[dot]com. They claim the most ridiculous success rate of them all, “Our programs, including holistic addiction treatment, have a 90% success rate.”
Narconon International has updated their site to say this, “No individual result is guaranteed, but in repeated reviews over the past 40 years, as well as utilizing its own “Routine Outcome Monitoring,” the Narconon program has demonstrated consistent results among people who have completed the program far above national and international averages,” on their FAQ page, but another page says, “When a person comes to Narconon for recovery, he or she has a 70% chance of lasting recovery, one of the best success rates in the field.”
The church of Scientology’s main website says, “With a success rate four times than international averages, it is the most effective drug rehabilitation program of its kind.”
It seems like they’re starting to backpedal a bit in some areas and dial down the puffy chest syndrome as their claims are routinely proven to be false. Their image continues to become even more tainted, and the likelihood of criminal charges are imminent from multiple ongoing investigations.
As I stated many times before, they still have a way out if they would learn to be honest, but since they follow L. Ron Hubbard’s policies they don’t have that fundamental ability.
Am I missing something here?
