Swing band The Jive Aces have performed at Buckingham Palace, across Europe and sold out the Royal Albert Hall...not to mention sharing a stage with John Travolta and Van Morrison.
The Jive Aces
The group, who will play The Woodville in Gravesend on September 12, are renowned for their high-energy shows with songs made famous by greats like Bobby Darin, Louis Prima and Sammy Davis Jnr, as well as a selection of originals.
Lead singer Ian Clarkson says they have a unique bond which helps when they perform.
“We have great fun – we have been going longer than the Beatles and, though they made more money, we had just as much fun. That, in part, is due to our shared religion – we are all Scientologists.”
He says their religion has given the band greater positivity and communication with each other, which is the key to their longevity and success.
“Scientology has given me energy and enthusiasm, which reflects in our music and makes people happy.
“When we brought out Bring Me Sunshine we were so pleased to see how much it cheered people up.
“A doctor in Seattle has even been prescribing it for depression!”
Ian has played the guitar since he was a teenager but it was taking up the trumpet that spurred him into swing music.
“I used to get home from school and me and my friends would play old videos of Elvis – that was our education.”
The Jive Aces made television history by becoming the first group to make it to the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent but the band say they have not let fame go to their heads.
Ian says they have done more than their fair share of grafting on the music scene and they plan to stick around for the long-term with one goal in mind – brightening people’s lives.
He said of BGT: “It was great for our exposure and Simon Cowell loved our music.
“But we worked hard for 20 years and were not an overnight sensation.
“We have always only wanted to do music that is happy and it can really cheer people up.”

Scientology’s Norwegian Shrinkage
SEPTEMBER 2, 2013 BY 1 COMMENT
This article was sent in by Anette Iren Johansen, who is taking time out from her own blog to act as Norwegian Special Correspondent for Something Can Be Done About It. Thanks Anette!
Where is the massive worldwide unprecedented straight up vertical expansion of Scientology? Apparently it has not yet reached Norway.
No expansion in the richest country of the world? I’m not sure whether the Vikings are cult proof or if this is just the worst example of Scientology’s failed Ideal Org strategy.
There is only one Church of Scientology in Norway. It goes by the name Oslo Org. In 2004 the church moved to the best accessible place to body route people in the entire country – Karl Johans Gate, the main walking street in Oslo. An ideal location. A beautiful 800 m² (8,600 sq ft) place, first floor in an office building located midway between the royal castle and the central station. Here the church planned to expand into their Ideal Org once that ideal building was found and fundraised.
Before the move to its current location the previous org building was attractive and posh. After the move to the fringe of Oslo the apathy is evident in the run-down building. Beware of strong before and after visuals below.
BEFOREClick the images to open Google map:
Despite being in this upstat place at the most ideal location they did not expand. New public didn’t show up as expected. The attractive appearance didn’t attract new members. The staff were clueless. Bills piled up and the church were literary thrown out on the street because they couldn’t pay the rent. Again and again the public helped them pay their bills and the church was let back in. I think the staff and public started to realize that moving to a future Ideal Org 6 or 7 times bigger than this place was far, far from realistic. The apathy was starting to set in.
More BEFORE pictures:
When my boyfriend Geir Isene, the only OT 8 in Norway, left the church and was later declared SP in 2009, the staff were exhilarated that they had found THE WHY for the lack ofstraight up vertical expansion. More on that in Geir’s upcoming book. Now that they got rid of their SP, their stats would finally go straight up. At least so they thought.
Instead the org died. The church downsized and moved to an outpost location 3 years ago. I think they have given up. They can’t even afford a sign. In 3 years, no proper sign on the building. Just a banner. Over the entrance and on one side of the building there’s a small banner no one can read unless they stand next to it. The place doesn’t come across as the friendliest place on Earth. Look at the blinds. It actually looks scary. The parking lot is almost empty the times I’ve been passing by. And the building itself says it all.
AFTERClick the images to open Google map:
I visited the church just before Christmas to buy the new DVD release, A new slant on life. I saw only two staff there. And they couldn’t find the DVD. So they called the ED and she said they did not order any. In the past there were incidents where public paid the fees to retrieve packages out of the customs when the church was broke. Have they given up buying new releases?
Can you see the signs?
The dwindling downward spiral of the Church of Scientology in Norway.
Is all well with Will Smith and wife Jada's marriage? Couple put $42million dream family home up for sale
- Power couple have put $42million dream home on the market
- The family moved into the home in 2011 after waiting seven years for it to be built
- Will and Jade reportedly recently sold their holiday home in Hawaii

Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith have put their dream family home on the market for $42million, after living there for just two years.
As well as selling the custom built 25,000 square foot house near Calabasas, which took them seven years to build, the power couple are also believed to have sold their holiday home in Hawaii.
The selling off of their property portfolio has raised questions once again that all may not be as perfect as it seems for Hollywood’s golden couple.
Are the foundations OK? Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith have put their family home on the market
Made with love: The 25,000 sq foot family home took seven years to build-designed to represent their 'infinite' love
The couple, who are parents to Jaden, 15, and Willow, 12, only moved into the house back in 2011, after it reportedly took seven years to build.
And it’s no surprise it took so long to construct as the pair, who married back in 1997, were keen to create their dream abode.
Speaking about the property in a feature in Architectural Digest back in 2011 Will said the idea behind the house’s circular floor plan was ‘to create an infinite cycle that represented what Jada and I hoped for our love’.
Questions: Putting the house on the market for $42million has raised questions about the couple's marriage
Hidden in the hills the home, which was influenced from places around the world such as Morocco and Africa, features a meditation house, recording studio, artificial lake, tennis court and basketball pad.
So after all that time and effort to create their dream home, it raises the questions why the couple would want to sell the property after just two years of living there.
As well as selling their Calabasas property, according to the Real Estalker the couple recently sold their Hawaiian holiday home in Kauai.
It’s thought the 7-acre property was bought in a deal off the market for around $20million by real estate mogul Dmity Rybolovlev.
In the past the couple have been forced to deny their marriage was on the rocks after it was reported that Jada had an affair with Jennifer Lopez’s ex Marc Anthony.
Everything: The house features a recording studio, artificial lake, tennis court and basketball pad
The story which InTouch magazine broke in 2011 was categorically denied by the couple and Will insisted their marriage was very much ‘intact’.
The incident occurred not long after Jada was left having to explain comments she had made suggesting the pair were in fact in an open relationship.
After initially saying that the Fresh Prince star ‘is his own man’ and ‘can do whatever’ he wants, she then backtracked.

Writing in a statement on Facebook at the time, she wrote: ‘Here is how I will change my statement...Will and I BOTH can do WHATEVER we want, because we TRUST each other to do so.
‘This does NOT mean we have an open relationship...this means we have a GROWN one.’
The couple were last seen at the VMAs on August 26, alongside their children Jaden and Willow.

The Smiths reportedly still own several properties in Pennsylvania, including a three acre estate in Bryn Mawr, not too far from where Will grew up in Philadelphia.
They also own another property in Los Angeles which they purchased in 2010 for $910,000 and before that in 2003 they spent $3.4million on a horse friendly estate – where they are believed to have lived while their dream home was being constructed.
MailOnline have contacted a spokesperson for both Will and Jada.
Run for it: Jaden was spotted running to get sushi on Monday, in Calabasas near the family home
