TROUBLED former champion swimmer Scott Miller has checked into a rehab clinic linked to Scientology ahead of his next court date on drug dealing charges.
Law & Order can reveal the silver medal winner at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics was admitted to a facility in Victoria last month.
Sources have revealed Miller will stay in the facility until he is next due in court in Sydney on Tuesday September 17.
The tranquil facility is located in the peaceful surrounds of Warburton East, 67km east of Melbourne.
"He's out in the forest drying out," our source said.
Miller's admission to the clinic appears to be a move to show Central Local Court he's attempting to make good on a pledge to get help.
The 38-year-old was granted bail at Central Local Court in July on drug supply charges.
After the hearing his lawyer, Greg Goold, told reporters the former butterfly swimmer was "desperate to get help" and was "aware of the gravity of his problem".
Miller was arrested on a Kings Cross street on July 20 and was charged with possessing 7.75g of the drug known as ice.
The charge continued the swimmer's fall from grace. The rehab program Miller's entered was founded by William Benitez in the 1960s when in a US jail.
According to the facility's website, the then inmate was inspired by a book penned by Scientology founder Ron L Hubbard.
He based the centre on the principles of Scientology and there are now 53 facilities in 25 countries.
In 2010, South Australian senator Nick Xenophon accused the facility of being a Scientologist recruitment program. The organisation denied the claim.
The clinic's three phase rehab program focuses on long sauna sessions, vitamin use and intensive counselling sessions, according to its website.

CRAVEN’S NOTES: L. Ron Hubbard’s musical hubbub
Whether or not you agree with the late Robert Anton Wilson that “belief is the death of intelligence,” there are surely signs that sometimes Faith joins hands with Foolishness. Occasionally, at least, Acceptance precludes Acumen.
If you doubt this, consider the music of L. Ron Hubbard.
In case you’re not well-versed in the lore of itinerant, lying, wife-beating science fiction authors who become wealthy recluses after creating new religions, be advised L. Ron Hubbard was one of those. As a man who had little success in his careers as a junior Naval officer or writer of pulp fiction, Hubbard eventually made millions following the 1950 publication of “Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health,” which itself became the canonical blueprint for the religion known as Scientology.
Once ensconced as a spiritual leader considered to be god-like by his faithful followers, Hubbard was free to pursue any whim which struck him — and one whim which not only struck him but, based on the results, apparently beat him senseless, was his urge to make music.
You see, according to Scientologist teachings, the great LRH, as he is often referred to within the church, was (in one of many previous lives) known as Arp Cola, and was around at the very beginning of time, which is precisely when he (ahem) invented music.
That’s right, music itself was invented by the same man who performed occult sex magic rituals in a Pasadena mansion during the late 1940s, shortly before he became a bigamist by marrying his second wife, Sara, without having secured a divorce from his first wife, Polly. Now you know who to thank.
What’s odd is that the inventor of music turned out be such a spectacular flop as a music maker. That wasn’t for the lack of trying, however. Hubbard’s earliest foray into recording came in 1974 when he was sailing about the world aboard the Scientology-owned former cattle ferry known as the Apollo.
Hubbard put a band together from among the ranks of the Sea Org (the Scientology inner circle-cum-naval organization which manned Scientology’s three-ship “fleet” during those years). The Apollo All-Stars released one album, “The Power of Source,” on a vanity label. Regarding the All-Stars’ music, one wag wrote: “If there was ever proof of crimes against humanity it is L. Ron Hubbard’s music.”
Hubbard had formed the group because Scientology in general — and his ship in particular — was running into bad public relations wherever it landed. He would gather the members of the All-Stars on the aft deck to play as the Apollo sailed into a new port, while other Sea Org members (including Hubbard’s tragic son, Quentin, who committed suicide two years later) would dance.
But even many Scientologists hated the Apollo All-Stars.
By Hubbard’s decree, the album was played continuously in Scientology offices around the world. One former Scientologist described it as “this bloody row blasting out day and night, 8;30 a.m. through 10:30 p.m. seven days a week…. Several times the record was deliberately sabotaged, water poured on the record player (this blew the sockets for the tech building) [and] records were thrown as frisbees down into the hollow. This went on for WEEKS.”
We’ll look at Hubbard’s subsequent sonic sorties next week in this space. Xenu willing, of course!

'Seeking brainy Scientologist in the industry': Tom Cruise 'outlines strict criteria as he enlists Church dating service to find wife number four'
|
Ladies, form an orderly queue - Tom Cruise is officially back on the market.
The Top Gun star has reportedly enlisted the help of a dating service within the Church Of Scientology to help nab him his next wife.
According to British Grazia, Tom's criteria includes that the new Mrs Cruise must have been a member of the Church for at least five years and be involved in the entertainment industry.
Ready for love! Tom Cruise has reportedly enlisted the help of a dating service within the Church Of Scientology to find his next wife
The 51-year-old also seeks a 'brainy' woman in her mid-to-late 30s.
A source tells the publication, 'Tom needs to be strict about his criteria because he wants to avoid a disastrous match and he needs them to understand his hectic lifestyle and all that comes with it.'
While the thrice-married star was said to have been dating model/actress Jessica White since she first became affiliated with the Church in June, Tom's reps were quick to shoot the story down.
However, it now seems that the star is indeed ready to get back in the proverbial saddle.
Not in the running: The star was said to have been dating Jessica White - pictured at the Fashion Media Awards on Friday - after she joined the Church in June, however, Tom's reps were quick to shoot down the rumour
'Keen to see who else might be out there': The 51-year-old is said to have hit it off with an 'unidentified actor' at a recent Scientology Celebrity Centre gala in LA - though he's happily still looking for The One
Twenty-nine-year-old Jessica may not quite fit the bill, but according to reports, the father-of-three has already found a potential suitable candidate.
The as far 'unidentified actor' is known only to be friends with 33-year-old former That '70s Show and Orange Is The New Black star Laura Prepon.
Tom is reported to have hit it off with the young lady at a recent gala event at the Scientology Celebrity Centre International in LA - though he's keeping his options open for now.
Says an insider: 'Tom seemed impressed, but he's keen to see who else might be out there.'
Friends in high places: Tom's 'unidentified' potential love interest is said to be a friend of Orange Is The New Black star Laura Prepon, who revealed in 2007 that she is a member of the Church
Marriage: Impossible: The Top Gun star was married to Katie Holmes for five-and-a-half years, before she reportedly blindsided him by filing for divorce in June 2012
Rumours have swirled for years about so-called 'auditions' being held on the star's behalf.
Just last month, former Scientologist Anette Iren Johansen alleged she had been 'auditioned' to be Tom's wife back in 2005, before he married Katie Holmes.
Of course, the Mission: Impossible star was married to the 34-year-old Dawson's Creek actress for five-and-a-half years before divorcing in July last year.
The couple are parents to daughter Suri, seven, while Katie maintains primary physical custody of the child.
Doting dad: The actor still plays a big role in the life of his and Katie's daughter, Suri, seven, as well as Isabella, 20, and Connor, 18, from his 10-year marriage to Nicole Kidman, which ended in 2001
Previously, Tom was married to actress Nicole Kidman for 10 years, before calling it quits in 2001.
The couple are parents to adopted children Isabella, 20, and Connor, 18 - both of whom have lived with their dad in Los Angeles since the divorce and have a distant relationship with their mother.
From 1987-1990, Tom was married to another actress, Mimi Rogers, 57.
Mimi is responsible for introducing the then-25-year-old to the controversial Church.
Marriage material: Tom's criteria is said to include a 'brainy' woman in the entertainment industry who has been a member of the Church Of Scientology for at least five years and is in her mid-to-late 30s

Leah Remini gets stuck in at Dancing With The Stars rehearsal as she gives her first TV interview since leaving Scientology
|
Leah Remini is proving that she doesn't need Scientology to be happy.
The 43-year-old star looked happy with a job well done as she left rehearsal for Dancing With The Stars at a Los Angeles, California studio on Saturday.
Leah, who wore a matching grey tracksuit and some simple athletic trainers on the day, will appear in the competition's upcoming 17th season.
Trying new things: Leah Remini, who is partnered with Tony Dovolani, leaves dance practice in Los Angeles, California on Saturday
In her first TV interview since cutting ties from the Church Of Scientology, Leah chatted with Ellen DeGeneres on Friday about the punishing DWTS practices.
Though the competition can be a lot of fun, there's one obvious downside: Leah's been hurting in 'places I didn't know could hurt.'
'It's so much harder than I thought, and most people do say that, but it's true,' Leah, best known for her role on The King Of Queens, explained.
She could've been talking about leaving Scientology, which she ditched in July in a highly publicized exit - Leah told People Magazine that she's 'not about to shut up' about the church's transgressions.
Tell all! Leah is reportedly planning on writing a memoir about her life, which will include details about the controversial Church Of Scientology
Seasoned vet: Leah joked to Ellen DeGeneres about potentially breaking her partner Tony Dovolani's wrist
The departure came after she was allegedly punished and put under the church's controversial 'thought modification' process after criticizing Scientology practices and leaders.
Also spotted on Saturday were actor and musician Corbin Bleu, comedian Bill Engvall and professional dancers Emma Slater, Karina Smirnoff and Cheryl Burke.
Emma certainly looked sharp in a pair of skintight, high-waisted black trousers and a retro button-down with paisley accents.

She later chummed it up with Bill and appeared to have changed out her top, donning a fiery red blouse.
Corbin and Karina also flashed smiles as they left rehearsal, with Corbin wearing a tight black tank-top and matching shorts while Karina sported a black shirt and some baggy sweatpants.
Satisfied? Corbin Bleu and pro dancer Karina Smirnoff seem cheery as they leave dance practice
Talented: Corbin shot to prominence as a star of Disney's High School Musical movies, and he has released two albums as a musician
Meanwhile, Bill showed off some of his new moves in the parking lot as he sipped on a sports drink.
He wore a bright blue shirt, matching Cheryl in bringing a splash of colour to the predominantly monochrome slate of outfits.
Cheryl's partner Jack Osbourne also seemed in better spirits after receiving the tragic news of his wife's miscarriage earlier this week.
Dancing With The Stars returns to TV in a new one-night, two-hour format on September 16.
Showoff! Bill Engvall seems confident in his new dance moves
Like a pro: Cheryl Burke, who is partnered with Jack Osbourne, gave a smile as she exited her dance session
Feel better soon: Jack Osbourne wore a gingham-pattern button-down and some comfy jeans on Saturday
