Jennifer Lopez Talks Men, Marriage & Scientology
Jennifer Lopez sits down with PEOPLE in this week's issue for an exclusive interview and photo shoot in Beverly Hills where she opens up about what she's learned about love. The pop icon, 43, gets personal about her difficult split with Marc Anthony, from whom she separated in July 2011 after a seven-year marriage (their divorce is not yet final), raising her twins Max and Emme, making movies, the perils of dating a much younger man, and more. Below are highlights from Lopez's interview with PEOPLE's deputy managing editor, Peter Castro.
On Learning from Her Mistakes
"I'm not a young girl anymore who can throw caution to the wind," the megastar says after a day-long PEOPLE photo shoot.
"I'm making decisions for three…I'm Mama Bear," says Lopez. "I want to make sure everything's right. I have been hasty in the past. Super hasty."
On Questions from Emme & Max about the Split with Marc Anthony
Now that her children are almost 5 (on Feb. 22) and asking a lot questions, "it's brutal," says Lopez. "I actually wrote a song about it last night and recorded it." (She titled it "We Loved" and cried after laying down the vocals). "They ask hard things. They'll say, 'Didn't Daddy used to live here? When is he coming back to sleep here?' And I say, 'Yes he did, but he has his own home now.' I just try to make it okay for them because that's all I care about. I don't want to damage them in any way."
On the 18-year Age Difference between Her and Boyfriend Casper Smart
Smart laughs out loud when Jennifer is asked if she's worried he may stray in 10 years. "Yeah, all the time," she says. "I ask him, 'Why don't you go find a young girlfriend and get out of here? What do you want with me?' And you think, 'How long is this gonna be?' You think, 'Okay, in 10 years I'm going to be like this and you're going to be like that' and…men at that age are…I think all different things. The truth is we don't know what's going to happen. We're loving this moment right now. We make each other happy."
On Plastic Surgery:
"I've never had Botox or any of those things. [But] when I need to, maybe I will. I don't know how I'm gonna feel. I reserve the right to not know right now. And I don't judge anybody who does it."
On Scientology:
"I know a lot about it because of my dad [he's been a member for 25 years; Lopez is not a Scientologist]. My favorite thing about it is the communication and the breakdown of what communication is, because I feel that it's the basis for life."
On Romantic Love:
"Let me explain something that's different about me," she says. "I've come to a place where I'm very comfortable with myself and realize that I deserve something great. For a long time I didn't have that going on. Now I'm not gonna settle. I deserve something great. That's what I want, and that's what I'm gonna have."

NO MENTION OF THE SCIENTOLOGY ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM AT ALL
Jennifer Lopez's manager denies star is unhappy with unflattering magazine cover... but maybe she should be

Jennifer Lopez's manager has denied the star was unhappy with a tabloid's magazine cover that made her look 'old'.
However, looking at the dated looking photo of the star, it's not hard to see why the initial story took hold.
Jennifer is pictured on the cover of PEOPLE magazine in a crouching pose with a wide grin and her hair styled straight with long fringe, looking decidedly unglamorous.
Not her best look: Jennifer Lopez was reportedly unhappy with her latest magazine cover for PEOPLE, and allegedly complained it made her look old
That's better: Jennifer in more glamorous mode at the launch of her new film Parker
A source told The New York Post: 'Her camp feels she looks old and haggard.'
And apparently Jennifer’s camp reached out to People to complain about the photograph.
But her manager Benny Medina has insisted he was happy with the final result: 'Look at the pictures and read the story!
'We worked closely with the editors of People and we are very pleased with cover photo and the results all around.'
Meanwhile People were quick to play down the negative press and said it 'continues to have a productive relationship with her and her team.'
However, when compared to her recent stunning appearance at the Golden Globe Awards, it's definitely not one of her best looks.
Jennifer sat down for an interview with the weekly to discuss her life after splitting with Marc Anthony and finding her new love Beau 'Casper' Smart.
She admitted to being plagued by insecurity over her romance with her 25-year-old toyboy Casper Smart.
Forty-something and fabulous: Jennifer wowed at the Golden Globes in this stunning nude and lace creation
The 43-year-old, who has four-year-old twins Emma and Max with her ex husband Marc Anthony, candidly revealed she worries about the longevity of the romance given their 18-year age difference.
She told People: 'I ask him, "Why don’t you go find a young girlfriend and get out of here? What do you want with me?"
'And you think, "How long is this gone be?" You think, "Okay, in 10 years I’m going to be like this and you’re going to be like that" and … men at that age are … I think all different things.'
Jennifer started dating the backup dancer following her break-up from Anthony in 2011 after seven years of marriage.

The former American Idol judge, who is promoting her new film Parker with Jason Statham, also opened up about the aging in the spotlight.
'I've never had Botox or any of those things. But when I need to, maybe I will.'
She said years of healthy living have served her well.
'I never drank or smoked, and it's really paying off now because my skin is still really good with moisturizing and getting good sleep.'

Did Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony break up over Scientology?
According to entertainment news watchdog ShowbizSpy.com, J.Lo wanted to send her and Marc’s three-year-old twins Max and Emme to a "specialist Scientology school," but that Marc was not crazy about that plan.
“Jennifer and Marc couldn’t see eye-to-eye on the subject,” an anonymous source told ShowbizSpy.com
“She’s always been more into the church than him. He wasn’t a huge fan and it caused problems,” said the source.
Lopez, who attended Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ wedding, revealed to South Florida’s NBC Channel 6 station that her father has been a scientologist for over 20 years, has defended the religion on multiple occasions.
“It's weird people want to paint it in a negative way," Lopez said when asked about the superstars’ wedding extravaganza and faith back in Jan. of 2007.
“It's just sad that people would look at Scientology in that way."

Dread Cthulhu Leads His Cult to Milestone Year
Under His unforgiving majesty Cthulhu, the Order of Dagon expanded more in 2012 than in any 12 months of its 180-year history.
2012 was a milestone year for the Dark Cult, with the dread message spreading to more than 10,000 conclaves and covens in 167 nations--figures that represent a growth rate 20 times that of a decade ago.
The driving force behind this unparalleled era of growth is Cthulhu himself, who is not only a cosmic entity of inordinate and terrible power, but also chairman of the board of the Esoteric Order of Dagon. Mr. Cthulhu is unrelenting in His work, providing charitable assistance to worthwhile causes, serving communities with fresh humanitarian initiatives, and afflicting all mankind with a transcendent anxiety though His eldritch murmurs.
Mr. Cthulhu spearheaded a program to turn every House of R'lyeh into what Dagon Father Obed Marsh termed "Ideal Orgs." This new breed of Church is ideal in location, design, and the exact form of its shrieking and immemorial lunacies. Each non-euclidean edifice is uniquely configured to accommodate the full array of Dagon services for both parishioners and the surrounding community, housing extensive public information multimedia displays upon its vast, cyclopean masonry. Chapels serve to host Sunday Services, congregational gatherings and, of course, human sacrifices.
